I won’t wish you a “Happy New Year 2025”
This is my third iteration of a message that was originally wrote by myself in 2013, back from the celebration of the Mayan Bak’tun 13 in Guatemala, on December 16, 2013.
Why? Because I don’t believe in these standard, empty wishes we share out of habit. You deserve better than that.
Respect for our unique journeys suggests we celebrate our “new year” on our birthday — the moment we first entered this life experience. Not on some arbitrary date imposed by a papal calendar designed to hide a mere astronomical phenomenon in the Northern Hemisphere.
So here’s what I truly wish for you:
Keep dreaming, because dreams are one of the most powerful forces, second only to love. But don’t stop there. I hope you’ll turn those dreams into reality. Explore your full professional and personal potential with intention and awareness.
Gently and resiliently, break the chains of illusion — the modern “Maya” that traps us in cycles of consumption, superficial ambition, and limiting beliefs.
Go beyond the endless pursuit of “having more” and embrace the extraordinary and infinite being you truly are.
Here’s what I wish for all of us:
May we achieve our adventures, experiences, and utopias. Not out of obligation or expectation, but with genuine love and passion.
This reflection is inspired by the constant complaints I see every year, amplified on social media. In 2025, I’m choosing a different perspective. I look at my friends from the Global South and East — often with fewer material possessions but a greater ability to welcome each new cycle with joy and love.
What if we did the same?
After all, dates don’t truly exist. What matters is the present moment and our determination to make something meaningful out of it.
So no “Happy New Year” from me. Instead, here’s a genuine wish: May every moment of this solar revolution bring you closer to what you truly want to achieve.
To our projects, our dreams, and the love that fuels them.
Yours truly,
A. Frédéric Joly, with Love
